Offrea was founded by Raf Verhaegen & Tom Lieckens, both sharing a background in IT. The business they initially set up as a b2c lead generation platform for the construction business rapidly became #1 in the market. However, by 2020 the market was maturing, with both vertical and international consolidation. It left the two founders a choice: either to act as a consolidator, or to sell the business at the early stages of the consolidation wave. With other plans in mind, both founders decided on the former action and mandated DCF.

Initially DCF looked to understand value creation in Offrea’s market. Maximum value would be attained for a buyer, either a media business generating leads, or an international competitor realising synergies from joint development and best practices. After an initial round of discussions and a competitive bidding process, a Dutch player with both advantages surfaced and exclusive negotiations were started. DCF supported the process from the very start up to closing.
Offrea’s sale was a great success for all involved. Critical to this was a tightly ran process focussed on realising the founders’ objectives:
